Silicon alloy steel with a silicon content of 1.0 to 4.5% and a carbon content of less than 0.08% is called silicon steel. It has the characteristics of high magnetic permeability, low coercivity, and large resistivity, so hysteresis loss and eddy current loss are small. It is mainly used as magnetic material in motors, transformers, electrical appliances and electrical instruments. In order to meet the needs of punching and shearing processing in the manufacture of electrical appliances, a certain degree of plasticity is also required. In order to improve the magnetic induction performance and reduce the hysteresis loss, it is required that the content of harmful impurities is as low as possible, and the plate shape is required to be flat and the surface quality is good.

Features
Silicon steel takes iron core loss (referred to as iron loss) and magnetic induction intensity (referred to as magnetic induction) as the magnetic guarantee value of the product. The low loss of silicon steel can save a lot of electric energy, prolong the working time of motors and transformers and simplify the cooling system. Electricity loss due to silicon steel loss accounts for 2.5% to 4.5% of the annual power generation, of which transformer iron loss accounts for about 50%, 1-100kW small motors account for about 30%, and fluorescent lamp ballasts account for about 15%.
The magnetic induction of silicon steel is high, the excitation current of the iron core is reduced, and the electric energy is also saved. The high magnetic induction of silicon steel can make the maximum magnetic induction (Bm) of the design high, the iron core is small in size and light in weight, saving silicon steel, wires, insulating materials and structural materials, etc., which not only reduces the loss and manufacturing cost of the motor and transformer, but also facilitates assembly and transport. The motor, which is stacked with toothed circular punches to form an iron core, works in a running state. The silicon steel plate is required to be magnetically isotropic and made of non-oriented silicon steel. The transformer, which consists of strips stacked into an iron core or strips wound into an iron core, works in a static state and is made of cold-rolled oriented silicon steel with large magnetic anisotropy. In addition, silicon steel is required to have good punching and shearing properties, smooth surface and uniform thickness, good insulating film and small magnetic aging.
Production Process
Pickling
The oxides of the hot-rolled steel strip are removed by the descaling machine and the hydrochloric acid tank to prevent surface defects of the cold-rolled finished product.
Cold stamping
In order to ensure the thickness and material for different purposes, the deceleration ratio is set at 40%-90%, and advanced control equipment such as automatic thickness control and automatic shape control is realized.
Annealing
It is a process of softening the material of the steel strip hardened in the cold stamping process. Through metal heating and rapid cooling, steel for deep processing and high-tensile steel are produced, and boxing (cover annealing) annealing and continuous annealing methods are adopted.
Insulating coating
When the silicon steel plate is processed into an iron core, in order to improve its processing performance and prevent eddy current loss equivalent to the multiplication of the thickness of the steel plate, continuous coating equipment is used to spray insulating coating liquid on the upper and lower sides of the steel plate.
